Speak to Me TechHead!

Some people are born with an intuitive knowledge of cars and technology so when it comes to improvements and modifications life is easy. You naturally think about the details such as fitting sizes and the best products, easily selecting compatible technology choices based on your needs.

I know what I want. I just do not have a clue as to how to match my needs with bewildering choice of technologies available. It is simple. I know I need some new speakers for my car. The speakers blur and distort the sound, I cannot feel my music and I need to feel as well as hearing it.

I know I am not the only person lacking the know-how when it comes to getting the right speakers for your car. Its easy to spend a huge amount of money, I do not know what is compatible with my car and I do not want to spend large sums of money on speakers or technology that simply are not compatible. There is so much information online all focussed at the technology and the choices available but limited advice on how to spec it and buy-it.

There is just simply too much to think about! The size of the speaker. What sort of impact will this have on the quality of the sound in my car? I just do not know. Potentially it could be a huge difference?

What is a tweeter, what is a woofer do I need one or both? Tweeters seem to pop up in my research constantly and they tell me that tweeters are able to produce high frequencies and woofers counteract this to produce low frequency sounds. Not sure what impact this will have on favourite sounds. Now I know so its not just speakers I need to consider I need to think about my woofers and tweeters.

I think the best advice I have had so far is to invest in securing a professionals view. My knowledge, when it comes to; cars, sound-systems and technology is simply poor. I know you can be at the mercy of the expert and there is plenty of scope to end up buying stuff you do not necessarily need but compared to the risk of buying a load of stuff that simply does not work. So I think it is sound advice.

Need to think about what I am prepared to spend, need to be clear of my budget. Make sure that I do not fall into the upsell trap. I have done enough research now I think I have a feel for the market price for my car speakers. I think I have familiarised myself with the makes and the options available I found plenty of prices and products online.

Not sure I can put up with my rasping speakers and stereo for much longer and researching online is a full-time job! There is so much choice so many options. Need to focus and get the job done. It is not life and death its slightly more significant than that! I need to narrow down the options, choose the manufacturers in my price range create a short list and go from there.
