Satellite navigation systems have become very popular within recent years and are now becoming much more affordable which has opened the devices up to a larger market.

There are a lot of good reasons why you should invest in a Sat Nav system for your car. One of the best reasons is that it can help you find your way around if you are driving somewhere unfamiliar. Some systems can give you information to stop yourself getting into traffic congestion and some can even help you to plan your trip using the lowest mileage and in turn reduce fuel bills.

One great feature that some systems are enabled with is the ability to warn the driver when approaching a speed camera. This is 100% legal as the knowledge of fixed point speed cameras is public knowledge.

There are 3 main types of Satellite Navigation system:-

Integrated based Systems: -

This type of Sat Nav is installed within a car and is built to interact with many of the cars features. As the fitting of this system is mostly carried out within the car manufacturers factory you can be assured that everything will be aesthetically pleasing with regards to your car. The only drawback to this type of system is that it's very expensive to have installed.

Handheld and plug and go systems:-

These Sat Nav systems are a lot cheaper than integrated ones and can be used in any car. The only disadvantage to this system is its attractiveness to thieves and its lack of interaction with the cars features.

Portable/PDA systems:-

These are the cheapest and most portable option of all the Sat Nav Systems.  A great advantage is that you will always have Sat Nav because of it being so easily called upon. Disadvantages include small screens and expensive mobile phone charges.

The technology incorporated within Sat Nav systems is expanding by the day, with features like voice recognition and traffic management they are set to become a compulsory and much needed accessory in the future.  A lot of research should be carried out before you decide on which system to invest in to make sure you benefit the most from this revolutionary system.
